Giving Back...
We pride ourselves on our philanthropic efforts. Our goal is to give back to the community that has helped us grow. We do this by volunteering, donating, and bringing attention to those organizations that help to improve our community and way of life. In 2009, we donated over $20,000 to local charitable organizations.
Paws for a Cause...
In 2006, we started Paws for a Cause, an annual fundraiser supporting local charities that provide support, shelter, or facilities for pets. Last year, we raised enough money to buy dental equipment for the Humane Society’s newly remodeled Spay and Neuter clinic.
Our 2007 event was also a success. We raised money to help the Canton Dog Park (Baltimore’s only dog park) for landscaping improvements. The new landscaping will provide better turf, add water fountains for the dogs, and should also be a little easier on the eyes of the humans.
We also exceeded our goal for the Baltimore Humane Society (BHS). Based on our donation, BHS is building a real-life room for the dog kennel. The real-life room will serve as an area to observe the behavior of new dogs, train “parents” on how to raise their new family addition, and for dogs and prospective parents to get meet each other in a safe, quiet, and comfortable environment.
In 2008, we took Paws for a Cause from an annual event to its own 501(c)3 and created a website: Paws4Cause.org. Our 2008 event was held at the Yellow Dog Tavern and raised over $7,500! A portion of the proceeds went to the Humane Society of Baltimore County to purchase and install sound reducing ceiling tiles for the dog kennel. The balance went to Recycled Love and Furry Friends. Recycled Love intends to use their share for daily expenses and Furry Friends will use their share to cover medical and rehabilitation costs for the injured dogs and cats they receive.
The 2009 Paws for a Cause Charity Night & Silent Auction benefited local animal welfare non-profits, Arden’s Arc and Karma Dogs. The Silent Auction/Fundraiser took place on Tuesday, September 22nd at The Red Star Bar & Grill in Fells Point, MD. This year we had a record number of attendees! With the money raised, Arden’s Arc can potentially neuter & return or adopt out 15+ cats. They already have a list of locations ready to target. For Karma Dogs, the money raised will enable them to visit a minimum of 25 classrooms, schools that otherwise cannot afford a Karma Dogs Safety and Oath of Kindness visit.
